When the Five of Cups is upright, you find it therapeutic to dwell. On the people that have hurt you, the ways you have failed, on your regrets, and on your self-pity. I don't think it's a grand revelation that choosing to stew in a pit of your own misery is a complete waste of your time. And, why wouldn't it be? You can't move forward if you constantly keep looking back. Self-awareness, I've found, is one of the hardest things to pursue. It means you have to be honest with yourself about who and what you are, as well as your shortcomings and outright failings as a person. But, facing that means you can face anything, including an uncertain future. Sometimes good things happen, sometimes bad things happen, but if you don't take a chance nothing happens.
Reversed you see where you were, where you are, and how one could only have lead to the other. Nothing in this life is free, even in the metaphysical sense of suffering. But, to know that you earned something makes it so much more precious and you so much more grateful to have it, as opposed to something being handed to you. The best part about pulling this card in reverse is that you already knew that.
As always, thanks for reading and let me know what you think in the comments. Bye!
